What Is This Rubbermaid Glass Container?

They call it a storage pan or cake pan. I call it a cake pan. I use this in the oven, but it’s also great for storage.

I purchased this without realizing just how nice it actually was. I needed to replace an old 8×8 cake pan with a plastic lid. The lid had fallen apart, and the pan was old, stained, and dirty. Since I use it a lot, I wanted to get something of higher quality. I decided to splurge and buy this Rubbermaid pan, and I’m really glad I did.

This is the eight-cup size, although it comes in a variety of different sizes. If I buy any more in the future, I’ll definitely stick with this brand.

Here’s What I Thought…

One of the reasons I purchased it was because I liked the clear lid. What I didn’t realize at the time was that these lids actually have a rubber seal and clamps that hook down. When you put the lid on, it clamps securely into place and isn’t going anywhere.

Overall, it’s just a super nice pan. I use it for cake. In fact, I currently have an apple cake in it. I’ve also used it for baking other foods. I’ve baked chicken in it, and I’ve baked fish in it as well. It’s good for all kinds of cooking.

It’s also excellent for storage. They call it a storage container, but to me it’s a Rubbermaid glass cake pan. I definitely recommend it, and I’ll definitely be getting more.

So, Is It Actually Oven Safe?

Yes, the glass pan itself is oven safe up to 450°F. Important note! The plastic lid is not.

Take the lid off before it goes in the oven, and use it only for storage and the microwave. Also, avoid sudden temperature changes, like taking the pan from the cold fridge straight into a hot oven, since glass can break.
