Taco Meat Recipe

At lunchtime one day, I had tortillas, cheese, salad ingredients, and salsa in my kitchen. So I decided to pull out a pint of my home-canned ground venison to make this taco meat recipe for lunch. (You could use cubed/shredded venison, but we prefer the ground venison.)

Here's how to make homemade taco meat.

My Taco Meat Recipe (It's Easy!)

The beginnings of taco meat...meat!

Add meat to the pan and bring to a simmer, making sure it’s good and hot. Drain, then add about 2 Tablespoons of taco meat seasoning (recipe below) and mix.

Taco Meat Seasoning

Taco meat seasoning.

You can use store-purchased seasoning, but I happen to make my own taco meat seasoning!

  • 3 T chili powder
  • 3/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 3/4 tsp onion powder
  • 3/4 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 4 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 3 tsp salt
  • 3 tsp pepper

Mix well. Store in an airtight container.

Quick homemade tacos for lunch!

Now you've finished the taco meat recipe. Quick taco meat for lunch! See? It's so quick and easy.

Hey there, Sharon Peterson here with simplycanning.com. I am going to share just a quick tip for a really fast lunch.

(00:09)
It's lunchtime and I know I have tortillas, I have cheese, I have salad stuff, and I have salsa. I'm going to pull out a pint of my home canned venison. This is ground venison. You could also use cubed. We prefer the ground.

(00:24)
Then I have a jar of taco seasoning. Now you can use the store purchase seasonings, or I happened to make my own. I'll share the recipe for you. I'm going to put this in a pan, bring it to a simmer, simmer for a couple of minutes, make sure it's good and hot. Then I'll add about two tablespoons of this (the seasonings) in there, mix it up. OOps sorry. I want to drain it first! Then I'm going to add two tablespoons of this, mix it up. Then we've got quick tacos for lunch.

I hope that was helpful! You guys have a wonderful afternoon. We'll talk to you later.
