My son picked this peach cobbler recipe out of a little Amish Dutch Cookbook I picked up at a yard sale. The book is titled The Amish Dutch Cookbook.
Kid friendly and super easy. He made this almost completely himself with only minor assistance! He was very proud of his gift to the family.
This recipe is called “Peach Pudding” but is more of a cobbler or a very moist cake consistency. Enjoy”
Peach Cobbler Recipe
- 1 quart peaches
- 1 cup milk
- 2 beaten eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 T melted Butter
Use melted butter to butter a 9×9 inch casserole dish. Drain peaches (reserve juice) and place in casserole. Mix flour (we used whole wheat), sugar, salt and baking powder. Add beaten eggs, milk, and juice from peaches. Mix well for 4 minutes. Pour over peaches.

The original Amish Dutch recipe said simply “bake a rich brown color and serve with cream”. We baked at 350degrees until nicely browned. Approximately 45 minutes.
After the fact I realized I could have let it bake just a bit more. So leave it until you have a nice golden brown.
It is extremely moist, thus the “pudding” label. Serve this in a bowl with cream or milk, or do as I did and eat it just like it is. OR if you are a chocoholic… do like my husband, add Hersheys syrup!
And here my youngest is making his Peach Cobbler…. with a little laughter in the mix. Just a few seconds of what makes a kid laugh!
