The Vegetable Gardener's Bible

My go to book for information on gardening. Companion planting, pest control, planting time and harvesting tips.
This book is on my resource shelf. I use it always when I am planning my vegetable garden. No matter how many times I've planted I always forget which veggie grows well with what.
This book is easy to find information with an alphabetical listing of vegetables and herbs.
Mr. Smith (the author) suggests using wide rows and raised beds for your garden... I must confess. Raised beds do not work for me. I live where the soil is hard clay and if my crops were raised the water would run right off.
However for all other purposes this book is fantastic. And If YOU live where you have NORMAL soil... raised beds is the way to go!
Oh how jealous I am of you gardeners who can run your hands through loose organic dark soil. Not the rocky, hard, dusty dirt I have. :0)
I highly recommend this for anyone... good dirt or not.
