Making & Using Dried Foods
By: Phyllis Hobson
STOREY PUBLISHING / Paperback
I found this one in my library and it is on my wish list! A must read if you have no idea where to start.
This book has lots of information about dehydrating foods and then recipes to use it all.
Includes sections on; how to dry foods, buying a dehydrator, pretreating foods, storing dried foods.
Sections on drying fruits and drying vegetables, with an alphabetical list of foods, how to efficiently dry them, which methods work best and then the best part of the book....
how to USE the dried foods! Recipes for each food and hints on how to use them.
Drying herbs, drying meats and how to make soup mixes, food good for hiking, drying flowers and how to use your dehydrator for other uses.
A final section has directions for building your own electric dehydrator.
I've checked this book out of our library several times.... I need to just break down and get it. It is an excellent resource for any gardener or home preserver.
