Not enough sugar

by Maureen
(Ventura)

I doubled the recipe for citrus Marmalade, but didn't double the sugar. It didn't set and is now a very flavorful syrup.
Can it be saved?
Can I add the sugar and heat it again?

I have not had to remake marmalade so I am not sure how it would work. I've redone jams though and had success.

I'd probably recommend getting a package of pectin and redoing the batch using the reprocessing directions included there.

If you try it let me know how it turns out.

Has anyone else have experience remaking marmalade?

Me TOO!

I just did the same thing! I canned Satsuma Marmalade for Christmas gifts and forgot to double the sugar. I was going to reheat and add more sugar, but wasn't sure it would work. I am praying that it will as tomorrow is Christmas eve! I can't see why it wouldn't work.
