Canning Spaghetti Sauce

Canning Spaghetti Sauce

How do I can spaghetti sauce using canned tomatoes.

Answer:
In order to can spaghetti sauce with already canned tomatoes just use the same recipe. The great thing is... all the peeling of the tomatoes is already done for you. That makes it easy.

It would be easiest if you use a recipe that has measured amounts of tomatoes in cups instead of weight.

Proceed from the point of adding the other veggies and spices or meat if included.

I have my measurements in weights. Sorry I am just not sure how many cups 30 pounds of tomatoes are. I'll have to try to remember to check that our next fall when I am canning my sauce.

Anyone have a recipe for spaghetti sauce with the measurements in cups? Let me know and I'll build another page for it.

Spaghetti Sauce from Canned Tomatoes
by: Anonymous

I learned a long time ago making spaghetti sauce from gallon sized cans of tomatoes was, cheaper, quicker and easier. However I will add here that you don't have to cook for endless hours to reduce you sauce, simply add several quarts to a gallon of canned tomato paste to your sauce. The only thing that endless hours of simmering does is evaporate moister from the recipe.

I cannot comment on measurements of each item, as I usually take out the 30qt. stock pot and open cans and cook and taste until I am satisfied with the flavors.
